Freedom House: South Asian Cultural Hub in NYC

Freedom House: South Asian Cultural Hub in NYC

“Clearinghouse for difficult ideas”

Welcome to Freedom House, a vibrant cultural forum in the East Village, celebrating the multifaceted South Asian diaspora through live music, literary programming, performances, workshops, and thought-provoking events. Rooted in New York City’s spirit of resistance and reinvention, we aim to unite voices often marginalized in mainstream discourse – writers, activists, artists, thinkers, and change-makers who challenge conventional narratives. Our programming will launch in August 2025 with the “Festival of Ideas,” followed by regular events that spark dialogue around pressing social, cultural, and political issues.

Freedom House builds upon the legacy of The Polis Project, a New York-based nonprofit media and magazine that documents communities in resistance at the intersection of art, culture, and politics. By amplifying marginalized voices and promoting cross-cultural dialogue, we strive to create an inclusive and impactful gathering space that fosters dialogue, challenges perspectives, and builds bridges across communities.

Freedom House is more than an event; it is a cultural home that aims to unite the South Asian diaspora and various other immigrant and diasporic communities through conversations, art, and culture Over the years, we aim to establish a sustainable and long-lasting cultural institution.

We invite you to join us in creating Freedom House, a vibrant cultural hub that celebrates diversity, fosters dialogue, and promotes social change.
